Matthias Sammer is a former German footballer and manager who is widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders of his generation. He was born on September 5, 1967, in Dresden, East Germany.
Sammer began his professional career with Dynamo Dresden in 1985 and went on to play for VfB Stuttgart, Inter Milan, and Borussia Dortmund. He was known for his aggressive style of play, excellent passing ability, and leadership skills on the field.
